Important things to know

A few practical scheme details that may matter while you plan or apply.

  • Special category means Women, Minorities, BC, MBC, SC, ST, Ex-servicemen, Transgenders and Differently abled persons. [2][9]
  • The applicant's own (promoter's) contribution is 10% of the project cost for General category and 5% for Special category. [2][11]
  • G.O.(Ms.) No.28 (22.07.2024) removed the earlier condition requiring at least three years' residence in the district where the enterprise is to be started. Applicants still submit residence proof (see the documents list). [1][4]
  • Manufacturing and service activities are not taken up under UYEGP. G.O.(Ms.) No.36 (18.05.2023) states that they will be covered under the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and State schemes that offer higher benefits to the entrepreneur. [1][3]
  • Do not get deceived by intermediaries. Contact the District Industries Centre (DIC) by phone or in person to clear any doubts, and do not enter false information in the application. [6]
